The State Cannot Effectively Use Confiscated Oil or Diesel, a Million Litres Are in Storage
Bratislava, July 9, 2021 - More than 1 million liters of mineral oils were stored by the Financial Administration without efficient use. Diesel, motor, or heating oil, seized by the customs authorities, are stored mainly at external storage via outsourcing at an average price of 441 euros per thousand liters. The cost of storage on Financial Administration's premises is at the level of 45 euros per thousand liters. Supreme Audit Office (SAO) audited the Financial Administration for the years 2017-2019. SAO points out that mineral oils have been in storage for several years and their disposal is slow due to missing deadlines and inconsistent rules.
"By more efficient and faster liquidation of confiscated stocks of diesel or oils, the financial administration would be able to save considerable funds for storage, at the same time it could, for example, use diesel as fuel for state-owned motor vehicles, e.g. police, army, fire brigade or financial administration ", states SAO President Karol Mitrík.
