The SAO Evaluates Public Policies Not Only Through the Money but Also Through Their Contribution to Society

Bratislava, May 12, 2022 - After a one-year break caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, an annual professional workshop of the SAO's officials with representatives of 27 memorandum partners and analytical units operating within the framework of the state and public institutions. At the meeting, the national auditors present strategic documents defining the Office's priorities for 2023. The workshop also offers a place to present SAO's analytical reports specialized in public health and building-permit procedures.

The materials are used to describe the risks that arise in a specific area, but the SAO also uses them to plan audit projects. Subsequently, the auditors verify them directly in the area with the responsible institutions. As part of the audit and conclusions from the audit, they define not only the view of the SAO, but also recommendations to improve the current situation. "Such an open presentation of the strategic focus of audit activities and risk description is a step towards even greater transparency and openness of functioning of the national audit authority. At the same time, it is important feedback to make sure that the targeting of audit actions is directed to important areas of social life, “states SAO President Karol Mitrík.
