Bratislava, January 8, 2021 - The principle once and enough in the citizen's communication with State or public institutions still does not work and the removal of bureaucratic obstacles using the information systems is insufficient. As early as 2018, the Law defined principles supporting the reduction of administrative bureaucracy or the elimination of paper documents duplicity. However, based on an audit in more than 30 Slovak self-governments “the national authority for external control had to state that electronic communication between the citizen and State authorities or self-governments encounters barriers” Karol Mitrík, the President of the Supreme Audit Office of Slovak Republic (SAO SR), informs the three highest constitutional officials about this finding.

Since 2016, the Slovak auditors head has been sending information about significant SAO SR audit findings to the Head of State, the Speaker of the Parliament and the Prime Minister. In the second half of 2020, the Office completed 12 audits in 152 auditees, while in two cases it ceded serious findings for further investigation by law enforcement authorities. These were the audit results in Slovenské elektrárne (Slovak power station company) and fire detection camera system project by the State forests.
