Check Your Self-government Thanks to MuMAP - the SAO SR Application
What we‘ve found out about your village or town in one place, simply on your mobile
Bratislava, 16 July 2021 - The application called MuMap is available for the general public for more than a year. It is an interactive map of Slovakia with current findings of the Supreme Audit Office (SAO) in municipalities, accessible on the SAO's website. The map allows people to compare and check what is happening in their region. After a few clicks or mouse gestures, everyone can see the results of audits since 2012, also provided and drawn EU funds, public contracts, or local government's debt per capita. The simplicity and functionality of the application attracted attention not only from Slovakia and Europe but also from the American or African continent. At the end of summer 2021, the national audit authority plans to publish additional data on the map.
A group of employees of various sections of the Slovak SAO has created the pilot version of the MuMAP application at the 1st International Hackathon of Supreme Audit Institutions organized by the SAO CZ in Prague in March 2020. They used free R software which was part of their training within the national project of professional capabilities development of SAO SR. Earlier this year, the team updated the data on the results of audits for 2020.
The MuMAP application is an effective analytical tool for identifying risks in local government and selecting entities for audits. By making it available on the SAO’s website (http://mumap.nkusr.sk/), the National Audit Authority seeks to support citizens' active approach to solving public affairs in their nearby neighborhoods. In these weeks, the application undergoes testing for the extension of the entire application.
