Bratislava, 14 May 2021 - During the approval of the State Budget for 2021, the Supreme Audit Office drew attention of MPs to the risks that have already become apparent during the first quarter of this year. Among other things, it concerns a high number of budget measures in amount approximately EUR 4.6 billion. Thereof, almost EUR 1.2 billion had been transferred from the general treasury to the budget chapters of the relevant ministries for budget measures relating to COVID-19.

Most of them went to support economic recovery, health protection and social assistance for people at risk of COVID-19. The Labour Department received EUR 550 million to address both freelancers and employers. The public health sector received EUR 406 million (e.g. for the purchase of tests and the operation of mobile sampling sites). Department of Transportation received a further EUR 70 million to support the tourism entities.
